Note 1:  Actual allocations (unaudited) occurred from 1990, following formation of the Association. From 1990 to 1999 NAFA sent $42,738 in funds ($31,000 going to Tilganga remote cataract surgery eye camps) to Nepal.

Note 2: In addition to “cash” support, NAFA has also provided significant “in-kind” goods since its formation. For example, 1990 to 1999, nearly $110,000 of “in kind” goods were provided, including $80,000 being a 36 line Commander PABX telephone system for the Tilganga Eye Centre as well as other medical equipment.

Since 2001, 2771 kgs of jumpers (7,787) and beanies (8,895) have been donated by dedicated knitters in Brisbane and distributed to children in need in Nepal.

Highlights of the above summary:

  • an average of 16 one-off projects have been funded in each of the four years from 2009 to 2012 after funding 16 projects in total between 1999 and 2008, an average of under 2 one-off projects per year.
  • an average amount of $44,000 per year has been allocated to one-off projects over the six years 2007 to 2012, compared to an average of $4,500 per year for the eight years from 1999 to 2006.
  • NAFA allocated one-off projects in 13 districts, with the most allocations being to the Dhading, Kathmandu, Solu Khumbu and Okhaldhunga districts.
