Thinking about putting NAFA into your will?

Make a Bequest

Making a bequest – naming NAFA as a beneficiary in your will is a simple and powerful way to help us deliver ongoing programs empowering disadvantaged individuals and communities, particularly remote villages, in Nepal.  NAFA is a Brisbane based non-political, non-religious, non-profit organisation.  100% of donations (which are tax deductible for Australian residents) go directly to NAFA’s aid projects ‘on the ground’ in Nepal.

How to make a bequest

If you have decided to make a bequest to NAFA in your Will, please consult your solicitor if you have one, or your local community legal centre.  We recommend you seek specific taxation and legal advice from qualified practitioners.  They will be interested to know we have tax-deductibility gift recipient status, and all donations to our Overseas Aid Fund are exempt from Australian Income Tax.

Types of bequests

Percentage bequest

Some people may wish to share their estate between family members and a charitable organization.  This can be done by stating in the Will the percentage to be allocated to each party.

Specific bequest

A Will may just specify items such as certain property, money, shares, life insurance policy to be donated to a charitable organisation.

Residual bequest

A Will may state that any amount left over may be donated to the charitable organization, once certain provisions are made for family and friends.
